Pediatric Care from Birth Through College Age

Well Child Checkup

and

Immunization Schedule

The primary goal of good pediatric care is the avoidance of health problems.  Your child should be seen on a regular schedule for well child visits.  During these visits, our professional staff will provide you with guidelines for the recognition of problems as well as preventative measures.  These visits will also enable us to identify any growth/developmental delays so that they may be addressed as early as possible.  All procedures which are performed are those as recommended by The American Academy of Pediatrics and are done in the best interest of the child.  It is the responsibility of the parents to be aware of their insurance coverage for these procedures.  Listed below is a schedule of the recommended well visits, immunizations, and other procedures generally administered at the time of the visits:

*NOTES

The 12 month visit MUST occur on or soon after the birthday, not before.

The second Hepatitis A must be at least six months after the first.

The immunizations for the 5 year visit, can be given at the 4 year visit.  This often makes it easier on the child because the 4 year old is not nearly as afraid of shots as the 5 year old.

The Gardisil is a series of two vaccines given six months apart when completed before 15 years of age.  After that, the series is three vaccines, with the second given two months after the first, and the third given four months after the second.  The reason is younger children have a more robust immune response to the vaccine, and do not require as many as older teens do.  We HIGHLY recommend this vaccine as it is the only vaccine currently available in medicine that can prevent one of the most common forms of cancer.
